When the National Geographic Expeditions asked me to work for them, teaching photography courses in Tuscany, my world changed once again.
To teach, you have to know way more, understand the smallest details, and be able to convey them. I know many excellent photographers who don't know how to teach. But they are exceptional with a camera in their hands. My physics professor, to give an example outside of photography, a Nobel Prize winner, absolutely couldn't explain physics to us, students. Fortunately for me, challenges don't scare me, on the contrary, they push me to push beyond my comfort zone and always dare more. More than twenty years have passed since then. I've traveled the world far and wide for National Geographic Expeditions, not only as a photography teacher but also as a destination expert thanks to my journalistic-documentary approach. NGE trips are essentially educational. You travel to see, learn, and experience. It's not a restful and relaxing holiday; on the contrary, it's a true "expedition," with unexpected events on the ground, without sacrificing comfort or the gastronomic experience, which is also part of the local culture, and is always top-notch.
Down below you can see the future expeditions and the ones made in the last couple of years.
